Mechanisms supporting cooperation in evolutionary Prisoner's Dilemma games

Abstract

The evolutionary Prisoner's Dilemma games provide a general mathematical background to study the maintenance of cooperative behavior among selfish individuals. First the basic concepts and features of spatial evolutionary games are surveyed. Our attention will be focused on the mechanismus supporting cooperation when the payoff parameters, the connectivity structure, and the noise are varied. Finally we consider several ways how influential players can enhance the level of cooperation.
